Thank You Dessert Reception Volunteer Young People

I want to take a moment and honor, thank, and brag about some #ConFusionSF members of our Volunteer, Dessert Reception Staff. I won’t provide you their names, because each of these Dessert Reception Volunteers are under the age of 18. Many were not yet teenagers. None of these young people are my children, so I don’t feel comfortable telling you their names – but fellow ConFusionists – these Volunteers went above and beyond.

(Parents, If you are comfortable sharing your child/childrens names, I definitely invite you to do such.)

One of the most crowded events at the Con this year was our Dessert Reception held in the Consuite following Opening Ceremonies.

Our Young People arrived Hour before that started and completed set-up. In a room that was at that time, 86 degrees, They donned gloves and took the task to insert our Bamboo Picks into the desserts that needed them. They helped do anything Consuite staff asked, and then we all took those gloves off and prepared to rock.

As our Adult Con members entered, our Young People hand served napkins, Petite Fours, Galaxy Shots, Brûlée, Cheese Cake Bites, and so much more. These Young People carried huge trays, through insane crowds, offering to each person they were able to communicate with.

Not once did they openly complain of the crowds. Not once did they quit because someone jostled them, ignored them, or made their job difficult. Not ONCE.

They braved the Heat, The Crowds, The HARD work, and they did it with excitement and joy.

Then they each asked if they could come do it again next year.

THEY are ConFusionSF’s Future and never, ever has our Future looked so bright.

They teach me. They inspire me. They are my heroes.

Thank You to each and every single one of my Young People Volunteer Dessert Reception Staff. You saw a way to help improve our Con and instead of suggesting, you actively participated in improving ConFusion.

I adore you! Thank you <3

ConFusion, Your Awareness Matters!

ConFusion, Your Awareness Matters!

“No more rhymes now, I mean it!”

“Anybody want a peanut?”

-William Goldman, The Princess Bride

Peanut allergy is one of the most common causes of severe allergy attacks. Peanut allergy symptoms can be life-threatening (anaphylaxis). For some people with peanut allergy, even tiny amounts of peanuts can cause a serious reaction.

While we welcome every member embracing our Storming the ConFusion theme, we are asking for your help to keep our con safe and happy. Please do not bring any open packages or containers of Peanuts into any ConFusion event/programming spaces. As a con we can celebrate this delightful quote and part of The Princess Bride without endangering each other.

Our Registration table will have offerings of Gluten-Free, candy Circus Peanuts for anyone who wants one. Our Consuite is offering a special “Here’s your peanut!” ribbon too.

Together, we can embrace our theme and keep our attendees safe. We appreciate your awareness and help in this effort. Thank you for your support.
