Are you coming to ConFusion? Planning to Volunteer? Email OPS@ConFusionSF.org and let them know. ConFusion is looking to start filling up the volunteer schedule. We are especially in need of folks who want to help out for set up on THURSDAY the 17th.
Thursday night Karaoke for a Cause will happen again this year at Storming the ConFusion. All proceeds will benefit Merlin’s KIDS. Merlin’s KIDS transforms the lives of dogs by rescuing them from shelters, training them and giving them a very meaningful purpose to their lives. These special dogs in turn help transform the lives of both the children and the adults they serve with a life long commitment to love, care for and assist….
It will be hosted by Blasted Bill Putt on Thursday night in the Big Top – Michigan Ballroom from 9pm to 1am and songs will be based on the KaraFun Library. A Facebook event has been made and is located here!
Please join us for a fun-filled time and to help this worthy cause. If you can’t make the Karaoke for a Cause event, you can still help! Donation jars will be located at the Registration Table, at Ops, and in Consuite. Swing by any location to donate.

Don’t forget to order your ribbons and pre-register! Ribbon ordering is open through December 20th, and pre-registration is open through December 31st!
What are Ribbons you say?
Well, I’m darn glad you asked:
Some say it was way back in the time of the S.M.O.F.s, the cabal that ran The World Science Fiction Convention (WorldCon), the organizers put ribbons on their badges that denoted positions such as “Guest of Honor”, “Con Chair”, “Ops Head”, “Artists”, and “Dealers” and more.
WorldCon attendees took notice and with great glee started making their own, inane, crazed badge ribbons to share with fellow fans.
Soon there were quotes from favorite books, movies & tv shows. Puns & Memes from the darkest parts of the internet. Basically, anything.
That being said, Ribbons are now used by authors, dealers, artists for promotion or just fun, congoers to perpetuate a fannish atmosphere of fun, randomness, and ways to honor favorite authors, books, comics, movies, shows and whatever else they can think of.
